About Daria

Daria came to Ghent from Kyiv to complete postgraduate research in art history at UGent, and the city clearly suited her — she has been here three years now and shows no sign of leaving. There is a Ukrainian quality to her warmth that resists easy description: genuine rather than performed, the kind that makes you feel noticed rather than entertained. She knows SMAK and MSK from the research side, which means gallery openings with her are genuinely different — she has a point of view, and she is not afraid to disagree with the wall text. Her four languages mean she moves through Ghent's bilingual social world without effort. Events are where she is most at home, dressed well and entirely unhurried, finding the interesting person in any room.
